Stephan Lutz is the CEO of BitMEX. He joined the company initially in 2021 as CFO and has played a pivotal role in the group. It was during 2022 – one of crypto’s most colourful periods – that Lutz was appointed Acting CEO, guiding BitMEX through industry-shaking events – namely the FTX meltdown, where his counsel proved sage and strategic. Before BitMEX, he was a Senior Partner at PwC for close to a decade, where he advised many of the world’s largest financial institutions. Prior to PwC, he held senior positions with Deutsche Börse. His career began in corporate finance and equities trading at Dresdner Bank AG (now Commerzbank AG).
